Social Summer 2021
Total Dandification
While at the time of writing this blog summer still exists (ending on Sept 22),
Social Summer is from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Summer is my favorite time
of the year; it's warm, sunny, and the gay bar rooftops are buzzing with yummy music and yummy men. It's also when I am
most challenged to create colorful outfits on the warmest time of the year. And this dandy had a rather
Dandilicious Social Summer!
May
Memorial Day starts off the party! Sorry, but that's about it for May.
June
It is time yet again for Pride, and also time for my first public event as that Dandy since
the pandemic began over a year earlier: The Wig Party.
I wore an all-blue ensemble to an outdoor public drag festival at The Kennedy Center, watched my friends perform, and swatted cicadas.
My friends Ryan and Ricardo arranged a photo shoot for me in Logan Circle in DC, my first photo shoot since, well, before the pandemic (this
will be a reoccurring theme). I had never created a successful modern dandy outfit out of my infamous diamond-checkered
black-and-white jacket before; previous attempts were all total failures. I succeeded this time! I mean,
check out the
picture for yourself!
July
My friend Erik invited me to his pool party at his place in DC in July, occurring after the Fourth of July, however, I
still wanted to rock and Red White and Blue, showing off my friends Nick and Jason's fantastic spats/ascot/pocket
square ensemble to match the straw boater trim.
August
Getting ready for my Big Summer Adventure: my first time traveling outside of the DC area since.. you guessed it,
Before the Pandemic.. and since I already
wrote a blog all about it, no sense in recreating
the effort; check it out!
September
Last day of Social Summer is upon us, and, as per tradition, I am invited to a party at
Trade in..
Total Dandification. I decided to wear black and white to mourn the
"end of summer". Goes off well!
And that's a wrap on Social Summer of 2021, Dandy Style!
