Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Does Heaven exist? We've been debating this issue since time immemorial. We imagine an eternal paradise full of our loved ones, maybe our beloved pets, and all of the great figures in history, all
in one place for eternity, all praising the name of the respective God of such Heaven. For me the idea of constantly praising such God over and over, ad infinitum, does not complete the picture of
heaven to me; to me, the idea of heaven is a perfect paradise full of love, acceptance, and inclusion, for all persons regardless of age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation,
disability, or religious construct to be together as a perfect community. That is heaven to me.
That is what Provincetown Carnival was to me as well.

My first time at a public event since before the pandemic, namely, in nearly 2 years, was my return to PTown since 2015. The theme this year was Over The Rainbow, and that is something
that I can absolutely not only support but create; I understand the mythology behind the Wizard of Oz, and I was not about to let this opportunity pass me by.
Oh Damn am I glad I didn't! I created three very thematic Dandy looks for Carnival week, one for each Tea at
Boatslip Resort. I may have been the only dandy at the party, but I was far from the only creative there!

This is the world this dandy wants to see, especially in our LGBTQ+ community: more creativity, more acceptance, more inclusion, more love!
It was so cool to see so many friendly creative people in my community, and I also got to spread the message of dandyism to so many people willing to hear about it in a way that they would understand and appreciate.
It was a struggle, however, to wear so many layers in the August Cape Cod heat, but I managed as best as I could, and, most importantly, I got fantastic opportunities to meet so many amazing people, especially that
very hot older muscle guy David from Nashville (yum!).

Sadly, all good things must come to an early, hurricane-fueled end
(I am not kidding). We evacuated PTown on Saturday to return home (in my case via Boston for the night, then home on Sunday). But, for a brief, shining moment, I felt like I was in heaven, because, to me,
this is heaven.
