Talking about heroes during #BlackHistoryMonth is quite natural for us to see not only who inspired us, but for our allies
to see who is great among us for them to also admire. At the end of this great month I wanted to talk about a very
special hero of mine, but before I do, allow me a special shout-out to the Black Queer Dandies of
DapperQ.
Rock on, Heroes!

But I want to talk about a very special hero in my life, because he'll always be in my life: Me. I am
a Black Gay Queer Gothic Steampunk Dandy who isn't afraid of color, pattern, feathers, flowers, jewelry, makeup, decorated
top hats, sparkle, masculine, feminine, both and neither. I consider myself to be one of my own heroes because of my
ability to survive everything from suicide attempts to congestive heart failure to being verbally and physically assaulted in my lifetime,
not to mention the death of my only boyfriend, financial troubles, job troubles, health troubles, and the systemic racism
and homophobia that is sadly integral to our modern society. I found a way to do my passion of dandy art in spite of the
pandemic and lack of venues, and I created the very website where you see this blog with my own two little dandy hands.
